IRU Event: Nearshoring in North America and Its Impact on the Trucking Industry

The IRU is holding an online webinar on October 8 on Nearshoring – the practice of transferring business operations to a nearby country rather than a distant one, which is gaining traction in North America.

Why? Partly due to post-pandemic supply chain considerations and benefits included in regional trade agreements (USMCA/CUSMA/TMEC).

But what are the challenges and opportunities facing nearshoring in North America and in attracting manufacturing investments to the region?

Join this North American Transportation Forum webinar for an interactive discussion on:

  • What is nearshoring?
  • How will it impact trucking?
  • What are the opportunities for trucking?
  • What are the challenges and mitigation strategies?
  • How are trade agreements encouraging nearshoring?

The webinar will be in English with simultaneous Spanish interpretation.

A more detailed agenda will be available soon on IRU’s website. In the meantime, register here.

Speakers include: Lak Shoan, Director of Policy and Industry Awareness Programmes
Canadian Trucking Alliance; Bob Costello, Chief Economist and Senior Vice President International Trade & Security Policy, American Trucking Association; Kenneth Smith Ramos. Partner, AGON Economia/Derecho/Estrategia & former Mexican Chief Negotiator for USMCA and Martin Rojas. Moderator, Senior Adviser for the Americas, IRU.

The webinar, Tuesday October 8th 2024, will take place 11am–12pm EST

Please aim to connect 15 minutes beforehand to ensure that your connection works.
