The topic of trucking and its role in the fight against COVID-19 reached the highest political levels in Ottawa yesterday when Prime Minister Trudeau tweeted his appreciation for hard-working Canadian truck drivers and tipped his hat to the Canadian Trucking Alliance’s #ThankATrucker social media campaign.
“While many of us are working from home, there are others who aren’t able to do that – like the truck drivers who are working day and night to make sure our shelves are stocked. So when you can, please #ThankATrucker for everything they’re doing and help them however you can,” he said.
The discussion of truck driver treatment has been spreading across the Canada over the past week as CTA’s social media campaign in support of the women and men who drive truck picks up steam.

“We wholeheartedly thank the Prime Minister for taking the time to publicly recognize the indispensable role truck drivers across the country have played in trying to steer us out of this crisis,” says Marco Beghetto, VP, Communications, CTA. “We are already seeing the impact his message is having on building respect and awareness for truck drivers.
“It is the responsibility of the supply chain to show these amazing women and men just how important and appreciated they are for their role in keeping our society together in these challenging times.”
