CTA Carriers Urged to Help in BC Fire Relief Efforts

As nearly 200 fires continue to burn throughout B.C., the Red Cross, Trucks for Change Network, the Canadian Trucking Alliance and the B.C. Trucking Association are reaching out to the Canadian transportation industry to assist families affected by the disaster.

More than 78,000 hectares have been scorched so far during this year’s fire season. Thousands of families have been forced to leave their homes.

Trucks for Change Network has created a special web donation portal through the Red Cross (click here) for anyone in the trucking industry who would like to make a financial contribution. All donations made through this portal will be directed to the Red Cross BC Fires Appeal.

Additionally, Truck for Change is working with the B.C. Trucking Association on coordinating logistical support. Carriers who would like to transport emergency relief supplies or donate equipment to help affected families should contact T4C’s Pete Dalmazzi at pete@trucksforchange.org.

“As was the case during the Fort McMurray wild fires and recent flooding across Canada, the trucking industry is once again showing its leadership, generosity and community spirit to help those in need,” said CTA Chairman Gene Orlick. “I encourage CTA carriers and the provincial trucking associations to get involved in this cause.”

Trucks for Change Network is a CTA affiliate. Much member carriers’ freight transportation has been donated free of charge or offered at cost to assist response efforts.
