The Port of Raymond between Regway, Sask. and Raymond, Mon. will stay open 24 hours a day after U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reversed last month’s decision to reduce operating hours.
CBP previously said that effective Dec. 27 the crossing would close between midnight at 8 am and cross-border traffic during those hours would be forced to do so at either the Portal, N.D. or Sweetgrass, Mon.
Following the announcement, however, Montana senator Steve Daines and House representative Ryan Zinke wrote a letter to the CBP commissioner voicing their disapproval of the move to terminate the port’s 24-hour service. CBP then changed its decision and confirmed it will continue to keep the port open 24 hours.
