By the Numbers: Canadians Want Govt to Step Up Enforcement of Driver Inc

Driver Inc. has made an uneven playing field in the trucking industry and is creating unfair and illegal disadvantages. Those using the scheme are siphoning up to $1 billion a year in tax revenues away from vital Canadian services and infrastructure and into the underground economy while circumventing important labour, safety and environmental rules.

Nearly three in four Canadians (73%) support or would accept the federal government taking action to stop Driver Inc — a growing labour misclassification scheme in the trucking industry, which forces or manipulates employees into filing as independent contractors so that the companies can avoid providing important labour rights and entitlements under the Canada Labour Code.
