Trucks for Change Partners with the Good Foundation

Trucks for Change (T4C) is once again assisting Canadians experiencing food insecurity by delivering cases of shelf-stable and nutritious food to food banks across Canada in support of The For GOOD Foundation (TFGF). TFGF is a registered charitable organization that transforms food and manufacturing opportunities into nutritious food for the food bank network. TFGF leverages surplus or excess capacity, along with goodwill, to manufacture high-demand food such as beans, rice, and peanut butter, for food banks and shelters across Canada to reduce costs and enhance efficiencies right from food procurement to final delivery.

Trucks for Change carrier partners are providing The For FOOD Foundation with transportation and resources to deliver nearly 1 million pounds of food to 46 food banks in every province across Canada – from Newfoundland and PEI to Vancouver Island – reaching some of Canada’s smallest and remote communities. This is a collaborative effort by Trucks for Change, its carrier partners, TFGF and Food Banks Canada, and is supported by T4C’s in-kind logistics partner ShipNorthAmerica who coordinates the deliveries. Proprietary TFGF-branded food products are offered to Canadian food banks two or three times per year.

“Food insecurity is a problem for many Canadians,” says Elliott Penner, founder of TFGF. “The For GOOD Foundation working with Food Banks Canada helps to close that gap with food for Canadians who need it most. This partnership between TFGF, Trucks for Change and the Canadian trucking industry will help address food insecurity for Canadians by providing food for those who need it most.”

“Partners like Trucks For Change and the Canadian Trucking Alliance and their provincial members are integral to the work that we do in helping reach communities in need across Canada. Without their support, work like this would not be possible”, says Kirsten Beardsley, CEO, Food Banks Canada.

“This was a significant undertaking for our network of community-minded carriers”, says Scott Smith, chair of Trucks For Change. “Due to capacity challenges in all transportation modes our carriers went above and beyond to make this a successful project. We are all thrilled to be able to support food-insecure families by delivering nutritious food to food banks in all parts of Canada”.
