Road Safety Week Focuses on Six ‘D’s of Delinquent Driving

The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police are promoting Canada’s Road Safety week, which begins May 15th and runs through until May 21st. This annual awareness campaign focuses on encouraging safe driving behaviours.

This year’s campaign adopts the Taking the “D” out of “Driving” theme. Each day of the week will focus on the risks involved surrounding different driving behaviour; ensuring Canadians don’t drive Drunk, Drugged, Distracted, Drowsy, Dangerously or Detached.

The campaign hopes to encourage police services across the country to promote and actively participate in the Canada Road Safety Week, increase public awareness and the adoption of safe driving practices as well as collect statistics to support evidence-based policing and Canada’s Road Safety Strategy 2025.
