The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is reporting that commercial operations are open in Southern and Northern Ontario but the Agency says it’s aware of challenges caused by travel bans and road conditions in upper New York State, which are impacting carriers.
Considering these exceptional circumstances, CBSA has advised all ports of entry in Southern and Northern Ontario to expect diverted loads and to forego any penalties for today, Monday December 26.
Carriers and drivers should continue working with their customs brokers to submit trade data to the agency where practical.
The CBSA does not endorse travelling on roads where travel bans are in place and is reminding all road users, including truck drivers, they must abide by driving bans and road restrictions, and that the safety of all travellers and emergency responders remains the top priority.
