CTA to Monitor Implementation of In-Transit Programs in Support of BC Relief Efforts – Feedback from Carriers Welcome

As reported earlier today, both US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) implemented enhanced in-transit programs to assist in re-establishing the domestic supply chains in British Columbia.

These programs, developed in a very short time frame, provide significant relief for fleets looking to bring some normalcy back to BC supply chains.

As with any new program, there are likely to be some growing pains as carriers, their customers and drivers, adjust to the requirements.

To ensure CTA has a good handle on the reported benefits that will come with the new in-transit options, we will be working with interested carrier members to monitor the programs as carriers adopt and integrate the changes into their operations.

Carriers are encouraged to provide feedback on their experiences to operations_safety@cantruck.ca and suggest any additional items that should be considered to make the rebuilding of BC’s supply chains as smooth as possible.

Feedback received will be used to further inform the process and to ensure accurate and timely information is provided to government officials and partners.
