The Canadian Trucking Alliance has named Greg Arndt, of Manitoba-based Jade Transport, its newest Chairman. Arndt, takes over for Greg Munden of the Lots Group, who concluded his two-year period as chair at the Alliance’s annual fall board meetings this weekend in Winnipeg.
CTA would like to thank Munden for his vision and leadership these last two years.
With the executive shuffle, Scott Tilley of the Tandet Group moves to Vice Chair and Doug Sutherland of Sutco Transportation Specialists joins as secretary-treasurer.
In accepting the role as chair Arndt thanked former chair Munden and CTA staff for their many policy and public relations achievements in recent years. He vowed to continue leading the battle against the Driver Inc misclassification scheme and underground economy in trucking; as well as work with future governments to restore Canada’s tradition of fair competition, economic freedom, and common sense regulation.
“Our message will be consistent. We must immediately correct course and bring back a tax and regulatory system that incentivizes business growth and encourages wealth – two universal goals which have come under attack through apathy, political barriers and poor/inconsistent enforcement mechanisms,” he said.
Also at the CTA meetings, the Alliance welcomes new members and appointments to the BRTF committee. Trevor Bent of Eassons Transport becomes NBRTF chair, taking over for Heather Day of C.S. Day Transport. The BRTF also welcomes James Steed of Steed Standard Transport as Vice Chair.
CTA would also like to welcome to CTA executive members James Steed, Manac’s Tom Ramsden, as Team Canada rep; Dave Martin, of Bison Transport; Jeff King of Manitoulin Transport and Eric Gignac of Groupe Guilbault.
The Alliance would also like to thank the following outgoing Executive members for their service on the CTA Executive:
Donnie Filmore, Atlantic Pacific Transport; Karine Goyette, C.A.T.,who both remain on the Board, as well as and Brett Marcoux, of Aero Delivery Ltd. And Kate Rahn, of Peterbilt.
