CBSA/CBP Announce FAST Interview Scheduling Timeframe Returning to Two Years

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are advising Free and Secure Trade (FAST) applicants that the timeframe to schedule an enrollment interview will return to two years, effective April 1, 2027.

According to releases issued by CBSA and CBP, the interview scheduling period was temporarily extended from two years to five years to accommodate disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. With enrollment interview capacity now fully restored, CBSA and CBP are returning to the standard two-year scheduling timeframe.

What FAST Applicants Need to Know

The deadline to schedule an enrollment interview will depend on the date of the applicant’s conditional approval:

  • Conditional approvals granted on or after April 1, 2027: Applicants must schedule their enrollment interview within two years of the conditional approval date.
  • Conditional approvals granted before April 1, 2027: Applicants will have five years from the date of conditional approval, or until April 1, 2029, whichever comes first, to schedule their interview.

Scheduling a FAST Interview

Conditionally approved FAST applicants must complete an in-person interview with both U.S. and Canadian authorities.

Applicants should log into their Trusted Traveler Programs account to verify their status and schedule an available interview appointment.

Applicants are encouraged to check the scheduling system regularly, as new appointments may become available. Travelers can also enable the “New Appointment Times” feature in the Trusted Traveler Programs mobile app to receive push notifications when new interview appointments become available.

CBSA and CBP encourage conditionally approved FAST applicants to review their Trusted Traveler Programs account and schedule their required interview within the applicable timeframe.
