The number of truck drivers entering Canada last week rose more than 14% from the previous week, but was still down 17% from the same period in 2019, according to the Canada Border Services Agency.
During the week of June 1-7, 98,089 truck drivers entered the country, up from the previous week’s 85,743, but down from 118,726 in the same period in 2019, the CBSA said.
The previous four weeks have witnessed an average decline of 27.75% per week from last year’s levels.
Overall, volumes were down 87% for those crossing via land the week of June 1-7, compared with arrivals in the same time a year ago, the agency said.
