Last Call to Complete Youth in Trucking Survey

Trucking HR Canada is calling on all employers and employees in the Canadian Trucking industry to have their say and be part of the solution, as they work to develop a national employment strategy for youth in the industry.

The short survey covers three main themes, including: attraction, engagement and challenges; your participation will help in assessing what some of the issues are so that Trucking HR Canada can effectively address them.

Young people aged 18-35 are now the largest cohort in the Canadian workforce, yet are still largely under-represented in the trucking industry. A recent study prepared for the Canadian Trucking Alliance states that ten years ago, 18% of truck drivers were 25 to 34 years old; five years ago, that number was less than 15%. With the growing need for drivers, technicians, safety personnel, managers and more, the trend is concerning.

“We need to identify ways to better attract, recruit and retain young people in the trucking workforce,” says Angela Splinter, CEO of Trucking HR Canada. “We want to hear from industry so that we can assess and ultimately address what some of the challenges are.”

The online survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, is fully anonymous, and is open to anyone with an opinion on this subject matter, including; managers, HR personnel, drivers, young people, etc.
