{"id":9675,"date":"2026-09-15T17:16:40","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T17:16:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/?p=9675"},"modified":"2026-09-15T17:16:45","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T17:16:45","slug":"cta-announces-new-chair-sets-course-for-next-phase-of-industry-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/cta-announces-new-chair-sets-course-for-next-phase-of-industry-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"CTA Announces New Chair, Sets Course for Next Phase of Industry Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) has announced\u00a0Scott<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Tilley<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>as its incoming Chair, pledging a commitment to collaborative leadership, practical solutions and a renewed focus on the issues shaping the future of Canada\u2019s trucking industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his first address to the CTA Board at its annual meeting in Toronto, Tilley&nbsp;said his priorities will be straightforward: strengthen CTA\u2019s voice on behalf of carriers, improve collaboration across the industry, advance meaningful regulatory and safety reform, and ensure the Alliance is prepared to navigate a rapidly changing economic environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is both humbling and an honour to stand before you today as the incoming Chair of the Canadian Trucking Alliance,\u201d said&nbsp;Tilley. \u201cCTA is here to serve carriers. We are here to represent their interests before government, advocate for practical and effective regulation, promote safety and professionalism, address the issues that challenge our members and, most importantly, develop solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tilley credited outgoing Chair Greg Arndt, immediate Past Chair Greg Munden, new Vice Chair Doug Sutherland, CTA staff and the Provincial Trucking Associations for their leadership and commitment&nbsp;over the past through years&nbsp;guiding the Alliance and industry through new challenges and change.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From this process, the new Chair said the Alliance committed that the Alliance&nbsp;wouldcontinue to modernize where necessary while preserving the carrier-focused foundation and strong relationships with government and stakeholders that has made CTA an effective force for fairness and accountability in our industry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have built credibility in Ottawa. We have influenced policy. We have championed safety. We have created a respected national voice for trucking and brought carriers together to solve problems collectively. That record deserves recognition and respect.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under&nbsp;Tilley\u2019s leadership, CTA will focus on delivering tangible outcomes on several major issues facing carriers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;Ending the Driver Inc. problem: CTA will continue pressing the federal government for stronger enforcement, better coordination between departments and agencies, and measures that ensure carriers competing in Canada\u2019s trucking market are operating on a level playing field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;Advancing a national trucking safety plan: The Alliance must continue working with federal, provincial and territorial governments toward a more coordinated national approach and data sharing framework for commercial vehicle safety, enforcement and compliance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022&nbsp;Adapting to a new economic reality<strong>:<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>The trucking industry is also entering a period of significant economic uncertainty as Canada and the United States navigate tariffs, trade tensions and changing global supply chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tilley said<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>CTA must ensure trucking is positioned as a critical partner in Canada&rsquo;s economic response by working with governments and industry partners to ensure transportation policy reflects the realities facing carriers as trade patterns evolve. This includes protecting Canada&rsquo;s cross-border supply chains, maintaining the competitiveness of Canadian exporters and ensuring trucking companies have the operating environment necessary to support economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tilley&nbsp;also pledged to strengthen collaboration among CTA&rsquo;s Provincial Associations, officers, directors, and carriers across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe strength is in the whole,\u201d he said. \u201cThe challenges facing our industry are significant,\u201d he said. \u201cBut our opportunities are even greater.
