For generations, Canada\u2019s truck drivers and trucking professionals have been there when Canadians need them \u2013 moving food to grocery stores, supplies to businesses, products to markets and essential goods to communities across Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
National Trucking Week 2026 begins this weekend (Sept. 6\u201312), and the Canadian Trucking Alliance is calling on Canadians to recognize the hundreds of thousands of people whose work keeps the country\u2019s supply chains moving and our economy functioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCanada depends every day on truck drivers who take their responsibilities seriously, put safety first and follow the rules of the road and the industry,\u201d said CTA Chair Greg Arndt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
National Trucking Week is an opportunity to celebrate an important distinction within the industry and to recognize the trucking companies and drivers who operate safely, comply with regulations and take pride in their profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAt a time when our sector is facing enormous pressures, we should be proud of the people who uphold the standards of our industry. Professional drivers and responsible carriers deserve recognition for the contribution they make every day,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The trucking industry is much more than the people behind the wheel. Dispatchers, fleet managers, safety professionals, mechanics and technicians, warehouse workers, logistics specialists and countless others play critical roles in ensuring freight reaches its destination safely and efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEvery shipment represents a team effort,\u201d Arndt said. \u201cFrom the driver who delivers the load to the technician who ensures the truck is safe, and the dispatcher coordinating the journey, there are people working behind the scenes around the clock to keep Canada moving. National Trucking Week is about recognizing every one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NTW was established by the Canadian Trucking Alliance in the late 1990s to celebrate the vital contribution of the trucking industry and shine a spotlight on the hundreds of thousands of Canadians who work in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout National Trucking Week, trucking companies and associations across Canada will host barbecues, picnics, truck shows, open houses and other events to celebrate their employees and the communities they serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CTA encourages community leaders, elected officials and Canadians to participate in local National Trucking Week activities and take the opportunity to thank the professionals who keep Canada\u2019s economy moving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
