Throughout decades, professional truck drivers haven\u2019t stopped delivering for Canadians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019re the unsung heroes of Canada\u2019s economy and while they should be celebrated all year-round, let\u2019s make sure we take some time during National Trucking Week (Sept. 7-13) to show these hard-working men and women the respect and recognition they deserve for being the backbone of our economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur economy and country need dependable, safe and professional truck drivers more than ever,\u201d said CTA chair Greg Arndt. \u201cIt\u2019s no secret our sector is in crisis as it grapples with a trade war and an out-of-control underground economy that is undermining law and order and eroding safety. That is why it\u2019s important to recognize next week the tens of thousands of dedicated truck drivers who work for responsible, compliant carriers and who continue to be one of Canada\u2019s most important economic resources.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am proud to recognize all these amazing people who keep our country moving \u2013 not just truck drivers but everybody that is part of the trucking supply chain, like the dispatchers who help navigate freight efficiently and the heavy-duty technicians who keep our equipment operating safely.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

National Trucking Week was launched by the Canadian Trucking Alliance in the late 1990s as a way to embrace the industry and spotlight the contributions of the hundreds of thousands of men and women of the Canadian trucking industry who keep the country\u2019s freight moving, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During NTW, various events will be taking place across the country in which the trucking community comes together to celebrate the industry; recognize those who are the backbone of Canada\u2019s economy and to promote the industry\u2019s dedication to safety and environmental enhancement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be barbecues, picnics, truck show \u2018n shines and all kinds of other things happening at company facilities throughout Canada. Community leaders and local politicians are encouraged to attend constituency events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
