The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) has been calling for increased vigilance and improved strategies to bring law and order to the trucking industry, including the cross-border trucking market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) Annual Summit this week, police leaders issued a united call for urgent modernization of Canada\u2019s public safety framework. CACP echoed many of CTA\u2019s concerns and highlighted issues like human smuggling and the illicit exportation and importation of illegal drugs and firearms as organized crime groups are taking advantage of systemic blind spots, outdated statutes, and digital platforms to victimize Canadians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCTA applauds CACP for its leadership,\u201d said CTA Senior VP, Policy Geoff Wood. \u201cCTA will continue working with CACP on measures to secure the border, secure the supply chain, as well as federal-provincial processes and programs designed to address critical public safety issues present in the trucking industry domestically and internationally,\u201d said Wood.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
