{"id":8976,"date":"2025-06-11T15:56:14","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T15:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/?p=8976"},"modified":"2025-06-11T15:56:15","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T15:56:15","slug":"bring-back-law-order-to-trucking-cta-to-ccmta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/bring-back-law-order-to-trucking-cta-to-ccmta\/","title":{"rendered":"Bring Back Law &amp; Order to Trucking: CTA to CCMTA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asked to address the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) at its board meeting in Regina, CTA\u2019s message was direct \u2013 law abiding trucking companies are fed up with the rampant underground economy and policy makers must restore order to the trucking industry immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe appreciate all the work being done to date to restore control and enforcement; however, it is falling short and taking way too long. We need more action, and we need it now and we can&rsquo;t wait until 2027 for solutions to be signed off on,\u201d said Geoff Wood, CTA\u2019s Sr. VP Policy.&nbsp;\u201cProvinces and territories have a key role to play in the oversight of the industry, and it can\u2019t come fast enough.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CTA has provided a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/council-of-ministers-task-ccmta-to-address-concerns-with-safety-certificates-for-trucking-companies\/\">host of solutions<\/a>&nbsp;to CCMTA in 2024 to address the major challenges facing the safety fitness regime and how to address other areas of non-compliance. The Alliance was advised yesterday recommendations would not be finalized until 2026 and would not be put to ministers for consideration until 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese timelines are unacceptable,\u201d said Wood.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CTA will continue to work with CCMTA, the Council Ministers and Deputies (Transportation) and its provincial associations until this work is completed, including tearing down of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/council-of-ministers-task-ccmta-to-address-concerns-with-safety-certificates-for-trucking-companies\/\">inter-provincial trade barriers<\/a>&nbsp;of which Safety Fitness and Carrier oversight has been identified, but an expedited timeline will be necessary and CTA will be requesting this directly from the Ministers. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFair competition, safety and compliance, law and order and respecting workers\u2019 rights must prevail \u2013 we have no choice, and we will hold governments
