{"id":8917,"date":"2025-05-28T19:52:48","date_gmt":"2025-05-28T19:52:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/?p=8917"},"modified":"2025-05-28T19:52:48","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T19:52:48","slug":"speech-from-the-throne-echoes-prime-ministers-mandate-and-priorities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/speech-from-the-throne-echoes-prime-ministers-mandate-and-priorities\/","title":{"rendered":"Speech from the Throne Echoes Prime Minister\u2019s Mandate and Priorities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yesterday\u2019s Speech from the Throne, delivered by\u00a0King Charles III,\u00a0emphasized many of the priorities\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/cta-hopeful-pms-mandate-aligned-with-trucking-industry\/\">previously outlined by Prime Minister Carney<\/a>\u00a0in his mandate letter to cabinet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key messages from speech which related to the trucking industry focused on the need to develop new economic and security relations with the United States; removing federal barriers to internal trade and labour mobility by Canada Day; new legislation to enhance border security that will give CBSA new powers to examine goods destined for export; rebuilding the trust in immigration by restoring balance to the system; and introducing a cap on the total number of temporary foreign workers and international students coming into Canada.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was a significant moment in Canadian history for King Charles III to open the 45th&nbsp;Parliament,\u201d said Stephen Laskowski, President, and CEO of the Canadian Trucking Alliance. \u201cThis&nbsp;Parliament will also be making some critical policy decisions that will shape our nation for decades to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Prime Minister is leading our nation at a time of crises \u2013 of trade, productivity, as well as law and order and compliance. We need fundamental change to correct the direction of our economy.
