The announcement took place during the BC Trucking Association\u2019s (BCTA) Christmas Party on December 7, marking a momentous occasion in Darcy\u2019s career.<\/p>\n<p>With over 30 years of experience in the trucking industry and an impressive 11 years of accident-free driving, Darcy embodies the epitome of excellence on the road. His dedication to safety, coupled with a passion for adventure that driving brings, have set him apart as a standout figure in the trucking community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a pleasure to see this award go to a professional, dedicated truck driver like Darcy,\u201d said CTA president Stephen Laskowski. \u201cAs the national driver of the year, Darcy is the best of the best. We\u2019re proud to have him represent our industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Darcy is known for his camaraderie and a knack for bringing a smile to everyone he encounters. His commitment to helping others and his unwavering integrity have earned him not only the respect of his peers but also the admiration of the industry at large.<\/p>\n<p>This recognition follows Darcy\u2019s previous accolade as BC\u2019s Driver of the Year, presented at BCTA\u2019s 2022 Annual General Meeting, showcasing his consistent commitment to excellence.\u00a0Darcy was selected as the national winner among all seven provincial truck drivers of the year from 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Earle, President and CEO of the BC Trucking Association, shared his thoughts on Darcy stating, \u201cDarcy Knowles is a true embodiment of professionalism and safety on the road. His impressive track record and genuine commitment to his fellow drivers make him a deserving recipient of Canada\u2019s 2023 Driver of the Year award.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Volvo Trucks Canada, renowned for its commitment to safety, sponsors the national and provincial Driver of the Year awards that highlight the importance of safety in the trucking industry. Each year, a panel of judges made up of representatives from Transport Canada, the Traffic Industry Research Foundation, Canada Safety Council, and CTA selects a national winner from among recipients of the Driver of the Year award in each province.
