All four international bridge crossings between Canada and Western New York are closed due to a vehicle explosion at the Rainbow Bridge crossing.<\/p>\n
According to sources, a passenger vehicle leaving Canada at a high rate of speed exploded as it reached the primary inspection lane with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).<\/p>\n
The\u00a0Peace Bridge, Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, Whirlpool Bridge are also closed in both directions\u00a0due to security related concerns. There is currently no timeline for the reopening of these ports of entry.<\/p>\n
Discussions between Ottawa and Washington are ongoing.<\/p>\n

There are no commercial trucks that cross at the Rainbow Bridge. However, the Peace Bridge and Queenston Lewiston Bridge are critical trade links serving the Canada-US trade community. Approximately 6500 trucks a day cross the two bridges moving $185 million in trade. On annual basis 1.7 million trucks travel across the two bridges moving $67 billion in trade.<\/p>\n
