{"id":3577,"date":"2023-08-21T19:15:37","date_gmt":"2023-08-21T19:15:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/nrcan-launches-new-repower-and-replace-program-to-decarbonize-fleets\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:42:08","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:42:08","slug":"nrcan-launches-new-repower-and-replace-program-to-decarbonize-fleets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/nrcan-launches-new-repower-and-replace-program-to-decarbonize-fleets\/","title":{"rendered":"NRCan Launches New Repower and Replace Program to Decarbonize Fleets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has launched stream two of the Green Freight Program (GFP), called Repower and Replace, which allows companies to receive up to 50% of the total project costs (up to a maximum of $5 million) per company, per project, on fuel repower and engine conversions, or for the purchase of low carbon alternative fuel trucks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More details about the program, including how to apply and eligibility can be found\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/natural-resources.canada.ca\/energy-efficiency\/transportation-alternative-fuels\/greening-freight-programs\/green-freight-program\/green-freight-program-applicants-guide-stream-2\/25263\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Government of Canada previously announced an investment of $199.6M over five years for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/government-of-canada-launches-green-freight-program\/\">the new\u00a0Green Freight Program<\/a><em>.<\/em>\u00a0The program will help truck fleets reduce fuel consumption and GHG emissions by providing financial assistance towards fleet energy assessments, truck and trailer retrofits, and the purchase of low-carbon vehicles, among other activities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stream 1 of the GFP was launched in December 2022, and provides funding towards fleet energy assessments and truck and trailer retrofits. Fleets can visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/natural-resources.canada.ca\/energy-efficiency\/transportation-alternative-fuels\/greening-freight-programs\/green-freight-program\/green-freight-program-applicants-guide-stream-1\/24808\">GFP Stream 1 website<\/a>\u00a0for more information on how to take advantage of the program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trucking operators are also encouraged to take advantage of Transport Canada\u2019s incentives\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/feds-announce-new-incentives-for-medium-and-heavy-duty-zero-emission-vehicles-program\/\">for\u00a0medium-and heavy-duty zero-emission program\u00a0<\/a>(iMHZEV), which will provide\u00a0about\u00a050 percent of the cost difference between traditional diesel vehicle and a zero-emission alternative to assist trucking fleets in reducing their carbon footprint.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fleets that are looking at ways to reduce their carbon footprint and take advantage of rebates, incentives and other opportunities
