While some things won\u2019t change when. It comes to insurance and regulations, there are still many questions left to be answered, according to a \u00a0panel discussion at the Technology &amp; Maintenance Council\u2019s spring meeting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Trucknews.com\u2019s James Menzies reports, some of the liability for collisions will come down to who owns the trucks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clayton Cavell, president of Paul Hanson Partners, said some models will see the OEMs continue to own the trucks, leasing them out to the end user.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">\u201cThey would maintain liability insurance at the OEM level, and that would make life for people like us [insurers] a whole lot easier,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">The insurance industry today calculates premiums based on drivers\u2019 experience, noted Andrew Roth, director of insurance with Koop Technologies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">\u201cWith AVs [autonomous vehicles] removing the driver out of the vehicle the expectation is that the behavior is going to change. That will be a positive thing, but it\u2019s an unknown thing,\u201d he said. \u201cFrom an underwriting perspective, it\u2019s intense.
