{"id":3354,"date":"2022-04-14T17:13:23","date_gmt":"2022-04-14T17:13:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/operation-safe-driver-week-to-focus-on-speeding\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:43:21","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:43:21","slug":"operation-safe-driver-week-to-focus-on-speeding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/operation-safe-driver-week-to-focus-on-speeding\/","title":{"rendered":"Operation Safe Driver Week to Focus on Speeding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance\u2019s Operation Safe Driver Program, scheduled for July 10-16, will have law enforcement personnel in the U.S., Canada and Mexico issuing warnings and citations to commercial motor vehicle and passenger vehicle drivers engaging in unsafe driving behaviors, such as speeding, distracted driving, following too closely, improper lane change, drunk or drugged driving, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThe rising fatalities on our roadways are a national crisis; we cannot and must not accept these deaths as inevitable,\u201d said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in a press release.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance\u2019s Operation Safe Driver Program was created to improve the driving behaviors of all drivers and reduce the number of crashes involving commercial motor vehicles on our roadways through educational and traffic enforcement strategies. Operation Safe Driver Week was created by CVSA with support from federal agencies in Canada, Mexico and the U.S., the motor carrier industry, and transportation safety organizations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThis safe driving initiative and campaign focuses specifically on drivers\u2019 actions \u2013 whether it\u2019s something a driver did, like speeding, or something they didn\u2019t do, such as not paying attention to the driving task,\u201d said CVSA President Capt. John Broers with the South Dakota Highway Patrol. \u201cThis focus on drivers\u2019 behaviors is our effort to identify and educate drivers who are operating dangerously on our roadways, with the goal
