{"id":3287,"date":"2022-01-11T21:49:31","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T21:49:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/reminder-transport-canada-seeking-comments-on-part-6-dangerous-goods-training-proposals\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:43:39","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:43:39","slug":"reminder-transport-canada-seeking-comments-on-part-6-dangerous-goods-training-proposals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/reminder-transport-canada-seeking-comments-on-part-6-dangerous-goods-training-proposals\/","title":{"rendered":"Reminder: Transport Canada seeking comments on PART 6 Dangerous Goods Training Proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/transport-canada-seeking-comments-on-part-6-dangerous-goods-training-proposals\/\">mid-December<\/a>, Transport Canada published a proposed\u00a0amendment entitled \u201c<em>Regulations Amending the<\/em>\u00a0<em>Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations<\/em>\u00a0(TDGR) (Part 6 \u2013 Training)\u201d in the\u00a0<em>Canada Gazette<\/em>, Part 1 (CGI).<\/p>\n<p>The proposed amendment in Canada Gazette, Part 1 is accessible by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gazette.gc.ca\/rp-pr\/p1\/2021\/2021-12-11\/html\/reg2-eng.html\"><strong>clicking here<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and has been open for a 60-day comment period.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed amendment includes important elements that would update the TDGR to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduce the Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) and require that persons be competent to perform transportation of dangerous goods tasks;<\/li>\n<li>Incorporate by reference the new Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) standard: CGSB-192.3-2020 \u201dTransportation of dangerous goods \u2013 training, assessment and competency\u201d, as amended from time to time, which outlines the requirements for competency: general awareness and function-specific training and assessment; and<\/li>\n<li>Align training requirements in the TDGR with the current versions of the United Nations Model Regulations for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (UN Model Regulations), Title\u00a0<em>49 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations<\/em>\u00a0(U.S. 49 CFR), the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code, and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Technical Instructions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CTA members operating in this space are encouraged to review the proposals and provide any feedback to\u00a0<a><strong>ctatdgtraining@cantruck.ca<\/strong><\/a> before the end of January.<\/p>\n<p>Feedback received during the comment period will be taken into consideration by Transport Canada in the development of the final amendment to be published in the\u00a0<em>Canada Gazette<\/em>, Part II which is expected in the fall 2022 timeframe followed by a 12-month coming into force period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In mid-December, Transport Canada published a proposed\u00a0amendment entitled \u201cRegulations Amending the\u00a0Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations\u00a0(TDGR) (Part 6 \u2013 Training)\u201d in the\u00a0Canada Gazette, Part 1 (CGI).
