Trucks for Change (T4C), in conjunction with Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) and Canada\u2019s Provincial trucking associations, recently rallied the Canadian trucking industry to donate to the Canadian Red Cross to support those impacted by flooding in BC.\u00a0 The Red Cross is providing cots, blankets, and clean up kits to communities upon request, and is providing comfort and care to people impacted by the floods.<\/div>\n<\/header>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cTrucks For Change has a longstanding and cooperative relationship with the Canadian Red Cross that typically involves moving shipments of emergency supplies throughout Canada to support their emergency efforts\u201d, said Scott Smith, chair of the not-for-profit Trucks For Change. \u201cThe flooding in BC is typically the type of disaster for which T4C\u2019s trucking services would have been requested.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the unusual circumstances involving short and long-term road closures meant that Trucks For Change had to \u201cpivot its operations to offer help to fellow Canadians\u201d and a challenge to raise donations from the Canadian trucking industry was launched. Today, the industry has reached its goal of $50,000, and continues to add to the amount raised.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to thank Trucks For Change and the Canadian trucking industry for their support as we continue to assist those impacted by the devastating floods in British Columbia,\u201d said Melanie Soler, vice-president, emergency management at the Canadian Red Cross.\u00a0 \u201cOur teams will be there to support people and communities as they recover in the weeks and months ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

On behalf of the trucking industry, we thank all the individuals, companies, and associations for their generous contributions and help in communicating the need to support the Canadian Red Cross\u2019s emergency relief efforts.<\/p>\n
