{"id":3281,"date":"2021-12-23T14:42:44","date_gmt":"2021-12-23T14:42:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/omicron-wild-card-affecting-2022-shipping-conditions-ftr\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:43:40","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:43:40","slug":"omicron-wild-card-affecting-2022-shipping-conditions-ftr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/omicron-wild-card-affecting-2022-shipping-conditions-ftr\/","title":{"rendered":"Omicron \u2018Wild Card\u2019 Affecting 2022 Shipping Conditions: FTR"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Shippers continue to face challenging transportation conditions as diesel prices surge and truck capacity shrinks, FTR\u2019s latest Shippers Conditions Index shows.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The freight analyst reports that conditions could east at some point in 2022, but it largely depends on how the Omicron variant affects the supply chain and public policy in the new year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Shippers Condition Index tracks the full-load freight market\u2019s freight demand, freight rates, fleet capacity and fuel prices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cShippers conditions should gradually ease in the new year with active truck utilization moving off of the full utilization level it has maintained since the recovery from the pandemic started in 2020,\u201d said Todd Tranausky, vice-president \u2013 rail and intermodal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cBut active truck utilization is still expected to be at high levels throughout 2022 and it will take time for additional rail capacity to come online. This will keep shippers\u2019 conditions from improving dramatically or quickly in the new year.
