{"id":3240,"date":"2021-11-19T18:48:43","date_gmt":"2021-11-19T18:48:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/media-continues-to-focus-on-canadian-driver-shortage\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:43:49","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:43:49","slug":"media-continues-to-focus-on-canadian-driver-shortage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/media-continues-to-focus-on-canadian-driver-shortage\/","title":{"rendered":"Media Continues to Focus on Canadian Driver Shortage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With supply chain disruptions affecting goods movement and store supplies all over the world, the Canadian mainstream media continues to highlight the worsening driver shortage in this country.<\/p>\n<p>This week, CTA received several media calls to discuss the driver shortage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a national issue and potentially becoming a national crisis,\u201d CTA president Stephen Laskowski, told Global National.<\/p>\n<p>Laskowski spoke about the need for government to make more traning dollars available to the trucking industry, which to date has limited access to training funding programs. \u201cLet\u2019s work together to get more access for young Canadians or Canadians period who want to enter the trucking industry to help them pay for their licensing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A decline in drivers could lead to a disruption in the country\u2019s supply chain which means it\u2019ll be felt everywhere \u2013 from gas pumps to grocery and big box stores, explained David Soberman, professor of marketing at Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and the Canadian National Chair of Strategic Marketing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there are not enough trucks to deliver the goods that people want to buy, you\u2019re going to find empty shelves and you\u2019re going to find things stocked out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The story was picked up by several local publications and news radio stations across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Full <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/8384435\/canadian-trucking-industry-driver-shortage\/\">story here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The CBC also conducted several interview this week on the issue, with a special airing Nov. 28 at 11 am on CBC Radio One<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With supply chain disruptions affecting goods movement and store supplies all over the world, the Canadian mainstream media continues to highlight the worsening driver shortage in this country.
