{"id":3171,"date":"2021-08-05T15:34:37","date_gmt":"2021-08-05T15:34:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/hydro-one-gets-nearly-5m-for-electric-truck-charging-program\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:44:06","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:44:06","slug":"hydro-one-gets-nearly-5m-for-electric-truck-charging-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/hydro-one-gets-nearly-5m-for-electric-truck-charging-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Hydro One Gets Nearly $5M for Electric Truck Charging Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The federal government is investing $12.7 million into electric vehicle charging initiatives, including a Hydro One project that directly affects heavy-duty trucks, reports Today\u2019s Trucking.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Hydro One will receive $4.95 million through Natural Resources Canada\u2019s Green Infrastructure \u2013 Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Demonstration Program to develop a pilot project for heavy-duty electric truck charging stations, establishing a model that could be used by other utilities and businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re integrating sustainability practices into all aspects of our business as part of our vision for a better and brighter future by developing innovative solutions such as our electric heavy-duty vehicle pilot to help achieve net-zero emissions by 2050,\u201d said Jason Rakochy, Hydro One senior vice-president \u2013 strategy and growth.<\/p>\n<p>The federal government says it has since 2015 invested more than $1 billion to make electric vehicles more affordable and charging infrastructure more locally accessible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re giving Canadians the greener options they want to get to where they need to go. We\u2019re building a coast-to-coast network of electric vehicle charging stations from St. John\u2019s to Victoria.
