{"id":3146,"date":"2021-06-25T15:16:24","date_gmt":"2021-06-25T15:16:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/sensational-six-trucking-leads-fight-against-prostate-cancer-again\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:44:07","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:44:07","slug":"sensational-six-trucking-leads-fight-against-prostate-cancer-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/sensational-six-trucking-leads-fight-against-prostate-cancer-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Sensational Six: Trucking Leads Fight Against Prostate Cancer Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian Trucking industry has won the prostate cancer-fighting fundraising contest known as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plaidfordad.ca\/\">Plaid for Dad<\/a>\u00a0as many times as Michael Jordan has NBA titles.<\/p>\n<p>For the sixth year in a row, the trucking industry \u2013\u00a0and Canadian Trucking Alliance member carriers, in particular \u2013 won the annual fundraising effort, organized by the Canadian Cancer Society to battle prostate cancer. \u00a0(Jordan, who won six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls, needed eight years to do it, however).<\/p>\n<p>For the third consecutive year,\u00a0CTA member carrier\u00a0Sutco Transportation Specialists of\u00a0Salmo, B.C. was the country\u2019s top workplace fundraiser \u2013 raising\u00a0$27,364 \u2013 over $5,000 more than last year.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, three of the top five workplaces were CTA trucking carriers. Tandet of Oakville, Ont. finished third with just over $18,000 raised while Winnipeg-based Arnold Bros. Transport was fifth with $15,850.<\/p>\n<p>Other notable Alliance carriers in the top 20 workplaces were perennial Plaid for dad supporter,\u00a0Steed Standard Transport, and Kriska Transportation Group.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0The Sutco family is proud to be part of the Plaid for Dad Campaign annually. This amazing campaign is a nationwide movement working toward a world where fear surrounding prostate cancer is no longer an issue.\u00a0 Our industry partners play a key role in our fundraising success with our Plaid for Dad tractor,\u00a0\u00bb says Sutco\u2019s Doug Sutherland. \u00ab\u00a0Like so many families, cancer has had a major impact on ours.\u00a0 My father is an early prostate cancer detection story and is still with us today.\u00a0 Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed away from prostate cancer the spread without early detection.\u00a0 The ripple of sorrow will last for many years to come.\u00a0 We bring awareness to prostate cancer annually, as early detection can change a family dynamic for generations.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>A trucking industry organization has finished first in the friendly workplace competition every year since its inception \u2013 beginning with the Ontario Trucking Association in 2016, then CTA, followed by individual drives from Arnold Bros and now, a threepeat by Sutco.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2016, CTA trucking companies have raised over $300,000 for the Plaid for Dad campaign \u2013 far and above more than any other industry or sector.<\/p>\n<p>Prostate cancer is the most common cancer to affect Canadian men, with one in about eight men being diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime. For the past three years, carriers and industry trades have joined forces as a national leader in participation and fundraising, while boosting team spirit in their workplace with fun Wear Plaid activities.<\/p>\n<p>Watch Doug Sutherland and a special guest thank an industry partner for pitching into the company campaign.
