Legislation to establish National Day for Truth and Reconciliation for workers in federally regulated workplaces received royal assent.<\/p>\n

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will be observed as a statutory holiday on September\u00a030, starting this year.<\/p>\n
This legislation will require that employers covered under Part\u00a0III of the\u00a0Canada Labour Code (federally regulated workplaces)<\/em>\u00a0provide their employees with a paid day off on September\u00a030 (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation) of each year. Should employees be required to work any hours on that day, employers would have to pay them, in addition to the holiday pay for that day, at a rate equal to at least one and one-half times their regular rate of wages.
