{"id":3072,"date":"2021-03-01T21:40:30","date_gmt":"2021-03-01T21:40:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/new-cfia-license-requirements-coming-into-effect-for-importers\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:44:23","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:44:23","slug":"new-cfia-license-requirements-coming-into-effect-for-importers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/new-cfia-license-requirements-coming-into-effect-for-importers\/","title":{"rendered":"New CFIA License Requirements Coming into Effect for Importers\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) received a notice from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) advising stakeholders that as of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inspection.gc.ca\/food-licences\/licence-to-import\/eng\/1608588974837\/1608588975118\">March 15, 2021<\/a>, import transactions of food commodities\u00a0(meat, fish, dairy, eggs, processed eggs, processed fruits or vegetables, honey, maple and, fresh fruits or vegetables)\u00a0will automatically be rejected by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) when transmitted electronically, unless a valid\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inspection.gc.ca\/food-licences\/eng\/1523876882572\/1523876882884\">Safe Food for Canadians (SFC) licence<\/a>\u00a0is obtained by importers moving goods into the country.<\/p>\n<p>Importers must obtain their SFC licence before presenting their shipment at the border and will not be able to obtain an SFC licence at the border if needed. Shipments may be refused\/rejected entry into Canada by CFIA if importers have not met this requirement, potentially causing delays for trucks crossing the border.<\/p>\n<p>CTA is recommending that carriers that move food products that may fall under the SFC licence requirements are encouraged to reach out to their customers to ensure that they are in compliance prior to March
