Toys for the North \u2013 a decade-long initiative —\u00a0run in partnership by the Thomson Terminals, Canadian Toy Association (CTA), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) \u2013 celebrated its 10th<\/sup> anniversary this year, with a record $265,000 of donated toys.<\/p>\n

Since 2010, Toys for the North has distributed over $650,000 worth of toys to families and children in northern parts of Labrador, Manitoba, Nunavut, and Ontario, who cannot otherwise access or afford toys for their children for the Holiday season.<\/p>\n

In these troubling times, a glimmer of hope can go a long way, explains program coordinator, Cpl. Rob Buller:<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Toys for the North is a very important program for Canada’s northern communities that has helped spread joy to countless families throughout the holidays for the past ten years. With the increased isolation this year has brought for many, we believe it is more essential than ever that we come together as a nation to do our part for the children and families in these communities.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

Jim Thomson, CEO of Thomson Terminals Limited, issued a special thanks to everyone at the company who took part in picking up toys, warehousing, loading and delivering the loaded trailers.<\/p>\n
