National Revenue Minister Sends Message to Trucking Industry on Meal Allowance Move<\/strong><\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s Minister of National Revenue,\u00a0Diane Lebouthillier, issued a video message during National Trucking Week, reminding the industry of Ottawa\u2019s move to increase the meal allowance for truck drivers during this critical economic time.<\/p>\n

The policy<\/a>, announced just a few days before National Trucking Week, is aimed at providing financial relief for long-haul truck drivers dealing with\u00a0rising roadside food costs<\/a>\u00a0as a result of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the Canadian Trucking Alliance, I would like to thank\u00a0Minister Lebouthillier for her support of our industry. The Minister\u2019s supportive words, as well as her actions by introducing an increased meal allowance for commercial truck drivers, are both excellent examples of how Ottawa has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the hard-working men and women our industry,\u201d said CTA president Stephen Laskowski.<\/p>\n

The Canadian Trucking Alliance is calling on members and truck drivers who will benefit from this policy to use social media to thank the Government of Canada, specifically CRA and Transport Canada, for addressing this need for our nation\u2019s commercial truck drivers.<\/p>\n
