Since then, truck drivers have joined the ranks of workers and service providers who have dutifully helped keep Canadians safe and the economy moving as much as possible during the pandemic.

“Around the country, respect for Canada’s professional truck drivers in the trucking industry has grown and while National Trucking Week serves as a perfect opportunity to continue to showcase that awareness for the amazing job they do, it shouldn’t end after this post-Labour Day celebration,” says Canadian Trucking Alliance Chair Scott Smith. “We are proud of how our industry always answers the call, even before COVID-19, and how we’ll be here serving Canadians long after as well.”

COVID-19 has undoubtably focused the public and participants in the supply chain on the impact professional truck drivers have on the sustainability of all businesses and people’s every-day lives.

National Trucking Week was started by the Canadian Trucking Alliance in the late 1990s as a way to embrace by the industry and spotlight the contributions of the hundreds of thousands of men and women of the Canadian trucking industry who keep the country’s freight moving, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

During NTW, various events will be occurring across the country in which the trucking community comes together to celebrate the industry; recognize those who are the backbone of Canada’s economy and to promote the industry’s dedication to safety and environmental enhancement.

There will be barbecues, picnics, truck show ‘n shines and all kinds of other things happening at company facilities throughout Canada. Community leaders and local politicians are encouraged to attend constituency events.
