href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/government-of-canada-releases-arrivecan-mobile-app-for-essential-workers\/\">ArriveCan app<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday, August 18, which will include an\u00a0<u>optional<\/u>\u00a0field for exempt travellers like cross-border truck drivers from adding their addresses if they voluntarily download and use the app.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities emphasize this option will be optional and exempt travellers will still be able to move to the next screen even if they don&rsquo;t enter their addresses.<\/p>\n<p>While the app is voluntary for essential workers and commercial truck drivers,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/cta-encourages-industry-to-download-voluntary-fed-contact-tracing-app-to-help-combat-covid-19\/\">CTA is encouraging<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0drivers to download the app prior to arrival at a port of entry in order to reduce the need for exchange of information and ultimately prevent excessive border wait times and processing times.<\/p>\n<p>As well, ArriveCan developers and communications staff continue to review feedback and look at ways to make the user experience more positive, and encouraging users to download the latest versions, where possible.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0COVID Alert app is available for free on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/ca\/app\/id1520284227\"><strong>App Store<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0or for Android through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=ca.gc.hcsc.canada.stopcovid\"><strong>Google
