{"id":2958,"date":"2020-07-21T19:27:50","date_gmt":"2020-07-21T19:27:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/ottawa-establishes-essential-services-contingency-reserve-for-ppe\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:45:03","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:45:03","slug":"ottawa-establishes-essential-services-contingency-reserve-for-ppe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/ottawa-establishes-essential-services-contingency-reserve-for-ppe\/","title":{"rendered":"Ottawa Establishes Essential Services Contingency Reserve for PPE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Canadian Trucking Alliance is applauding Minister of Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), Anita Anand, for the Essential Services Contingency Reserve (ESCR) \u2013 a program designed to ensure essential services like trucking always have access to PPE.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ESCR complements the successful launch of PSPC\u2019s Supply Hub by helping essential service organizations like transport companies bridge urgent, short-term gaps in their PPE supplies when other sources are unavailable,\u201d said CTA president Stephen Laskowski.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThroughout the COVID-19 crisis, Minister Anand has worked diligently with our sector and other essential services to make sure our workers have the PPE required to keep Canada\u2019s economy moving safely,\u201d added Laskowski. \u201cToday\u2019s announcement is yet another example of Minister Anand\u2019s leadership and commitment to ensuring essential service sectors like trucking always can get access to PPE despite supply constraints in the marketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through the\u00a0ESCR, eligible essential service business or organizations could apply to receive personal protective equipment (PPE), non-medical masks and disinfection products to address urgent, short-term (45\u00a0days) needs. Supplies are provided on a cost-recovery basis to businesses or organizations that cannot access supplies through other means and when significant service disruptions are imminent.<\/p>\n<p>Before requesting support from the\u00a0ESCR, members should visit the\u00a0PPE\u00a0supply hub for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/public-services-procurement\/services\/buying-selling-personal-protective-equipment-covid-19-overview.html\">information on buying personal protective equipment<\/a>, including guidance on types of\u00a0PPE\u00a0you may require.
