{"id":2933,"date":"2020-06-10T18:50:49","date_gmt":"2020-06-10T18:50:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/loadlink-worst-of-cnd-spot-market-downturn-likely-over\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:45:14","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:45:14","slug":"loadlink-worst-of-cnd-spot-market-downturn-likely-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/loadlink-worst-of-cnd-spot-market-downturn-likely-over\/","title":{"rendered":"Loadlink: Worst of Cnd Spot Market Downturn Likely Over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">TransCore Link Logistics thinks the worst of the spot market recession may already be over as Canada\u2019s spot market load volumes took a dive in April, with overall load volumes on down 56% from March and 38% year-over-year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">April volumes saw declines from all regions in Canada, while truck availability increased 15% from March as carriers turned to the spot market to replace disappearing contract freight, said the company. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Of the top 100 busiest city-to-city lanes on Loadlink, only 25% saw volumes increase, with the biggest gainers being California and Florida outbound loads as produce season increased volumes in some lanes.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The good news is, Loadlink saw consistent increase in volumes for the first week of May, especially intra-Canadian city lanes. Calgary-Saskatoon volumes went up 82% week-over-week, Winnipeg-Calgary soared 65%, Toronto-Calgary was up 50%, and Toronto-Montreal up 32%.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cIn the near future, the reopening of some automotive manufacturers will likely provide a boost in volumes for many carriers that operate within the automotive space,\u201d TransCore Link Logistics said in a release. \u201cAs the United States and Canadian governments continue developing a plan to reopen the economy, the short-term outlook for the Canadian trucking industry can only improve with manufacturing resuming.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The company believes April\u2019s load volumes represent the \u201cabsolute bottom levels of freight during this period of decline,\u201d and that May volumes will be level with a higher ceiling.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">April capacity expanded for the first time in six months, with 5.64 trucks per load \u2013 a 159% increase from 2.18 in March.
