Manitoba<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Province of Manitoba issued a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/trucking.us10.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=0c11fbb24a127b48507c136d6&amp;id=70bed403b1&amp;e=72abd0cdb4\">new Order<\/a>\u00a0on April 30 that allows a variety of businesses to re-open,\u00a0<strong><em>including businesses that provide commercial truck driver training courses<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(page 18, Schedule A, item 81). \u00a0The effective date of this Order is May 4, 2020.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Under the Order, if members of the public are allowed to attend the place of business, \u00ab\u00a0the operator of the business must implement measures to ensure that members of the public \u00a0attending the business are reasonably able to maintain a separation of at least two metres from other members of the public at the business.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>MTA continue to work with all stakeholders surrounding questions of what road testing will look like. \u00a0Members with questions are encouraged to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:tshaw@trucking.mb.ca?subject=Driver%20Training%20Schools%20Re-opening\">contact Terry<\/a>\u00a0at the MTA office.<\/p>\n<p>The Motor Carrier Division has put together an easy to read resource\u00a0outlining many of the provisions allowed under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/trucking.us10.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=0c11fbb24a127b48507c136d6&amp;id=36c113f9cc&amp;e=72abd0cdb4\">Trucking and Transportation Provisions Order<\/a>. \u00a0This site outlines clearly the\u00a0regulatory relief for industry under this new, temporary order. \u00a0This includes information on<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IRP,<\/li>\n<li>annual overweight\/overdimensional permits,<\/li>\n<li>PMVIs,<\/li>\n<li>Safety Fitness Certificates,<\/li>\n<li>temporary validity of out of province driving permit, and<\/li>\n<li>the driving of overweight vehicles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Government of Manitoba is now accepting applications online for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/trucking.us10.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=0c11fbb24a127b48507c136d6&amp;id=86596eaa33&amp;e=72abd0cdb4\">Manitoba Gap Protection Program (MGPP)<\/a>. \u00a0The MGPP provides an interest-free, forgivable $6,000 loan to small and medium-sized businesses in Manitoba that have experienced hardships as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and related public health orders. Loans are available to businesses that fail to qualify for the various federal government assistance programs and wage subsidies created because of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are also being accepted online for\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/trucking.us10.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=0c11fbb24a127b48507c136d6&amp;id=5bdc9ca636&amp;e=72abd0cdb4\">Summer Student Recovery Jobs Program<\/a>, a wage subsidy program to support high school and post-secondary students employed in the private and non-profit sectors.<\/p>\n<p>RPM is now offering training online. \u00a0The first course being offered is Incident Reporting &amp; Investigations. \u00a0For any members interested in this course, please<a href=\"mailto:rmiles@rpmsafety.ca?subject=Incident%20Reporting%20%26%20Investigations%20Online%20Training\">contact Rebekka<\/a>\u00a0at the RPM office to get started.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alberta Staged Relaunch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>n April 30, the Government of Alberta announced, via press conference, a phased relaunch, which \u201cwill put Albertans\u2019 safety first\u201d with gradual re-opening of closed businesses and services in the province.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m confident Albertans will approach relaunch with the same adaptability and resilience they have shown throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d said Premier Jason Kenney in a release. \u201cWe will move forward together with care and common sense, knowing tough times are still ahead. We will support and protect vulnerable Albertans and keep them safe as we build our province back up one stage at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Government said because Albertans have acted responsibly, respecting public health advice, that it has thus far been able to limit the spread of COVID-19, keep localized outbreaks within the capacity of the province\u2019s health-care system, and now take these first incremental steps to re-open some businesses and services.<\/p>\n<p>Government says the plan to move forward requires careful and ongoing monitoring and respect of all guidelines outlined
