Guidance for Employers of Temporary Foreign Workers Regarding COVID-19\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IIRC) recently announced exemptions to travel restrictions to facilitate entry of Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW\u2019s) into Canada. Employers using all streams of the program are able to make arrangements for workers, and\u00a0TFW\u2019s, some international students and approved permanent residents who haven\u2019t yet landed are now able to enter Canada.https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/services\/coronavirus-special-measures.html<\/a><\/p>\n

Further to the announcement of the exemptions to the travel restrictions, IIRC has also provided the attached guidance for employers of temporary foreign workers regarding COVID-19. The document includes criteria for employers, including guidance for those that provide accommodations to TFW\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Only people who provide essential services and truck drivers who regularly cross the border to maintain the flow of goods are exempt from the isolation requirements.<\/p>\n

Spring Weight Restriction Resource now available online<\/strong><\/p>\n

To bring clarity to the scope of spring weight restrictions for heavy commercial trucks across Canada, the Task Force on Weights and Dimensions Policy has answered a request from the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) and is making available an online resource for carriers.<\/p>\n

Details include links to provincial government websites as well as a section that highlights if exemptions or special provisions to each jurisdictions\u2019 spring weight restrictions are in play.\u00a0\u00a0 To view the website,\u00a0click here<\/a><\/p>\n

CTA appreciates the rapid response to this request and the continued strong collaboration with the Task Force.<\/p>\n

Quebec company offers free room and board for truckers during COVID-19 crisis<\/b><\/p>\n

Truck drivers will permitted to stay free of charge for a thirty-minute period at one of three Holiday Inn and Suites hotel locations in Saint-Hyacinthe, Trois-Rivi\u00e8res and in Vaudreuil-Dorion.\u00a0Drivers will have access to a room, to use the shower and bathrooms, the company announced<\/a>.<\/p>\n
