However, the drive thru-only policies are leaving truck drivers with very few, if any, options to eat since they cannot drive their tractor-trailers through these narrow driveways and most restaurant chains prohibit walk-up traffic to the order windows for safety reasons,\u201d said CTA\u2019s President Stephen Laskowski. \u201cRC has been incredibly responsive to working with the trucking industry in trying to find solutions that protect the health and safety of their members\u2019 workers while also providing the nation\u2019s truck drivers access to warm meals from various locations.<\/p>\n<p>McDonald\u2019s Canada is the first major restaurant chain to act. Acknowledging our nation\u2019s truck drivers are essential workers who are delivering vital items like food, emergency relief supplies and sanitation products Canadians desperately need right now, the company committed to curbside service for truck drivers who cannot access Drive-Thu lanes with their commercial vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning March 26, the company will be able to provide truck drivers curbside service through the MyMcD\u2019s App between the hours of\u00a08\u00a0a.m.\u00a0to 8\u00a0p.m.<\/p>\n<p>McDonald\u2019s asks truck drivers to follow these steps when ordering:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use\u00a0the My McD\u2019s app (available free at Apple\u00a0iTunes or Google Play Store) to place your order\u00a0when you arrive at the restaurant.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Select Curbside Service and park your vehicle in an area of the lot that allows for other vehicles to easily pass.<\/li>\n<li>Complete your order by entering the\u00a0curbside stall number 99\u00a0and we\u2019ll safely bring your order to you as soon as it\u2019s ready!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Click here for McDonald\u2019s Canada\u2019s full response to CTA on the truck driver policy: <a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/McD-COVID-19_Truck-Association-and-First-Responder-Letter_public.pdf\">cD-COVID-19_Truck Association and First Responder Letter_public<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the world continues to address the quickly changing landscape,\u00a0we would like\u00a0to thank the members of our community, especially your members, for\u00a0tirelessly and\u00a0bravely continuing to\u00a0provide\u00a0essential services to help keep us\u00a0all\u00a0safe and healthy,\u201d said McDonald\u2019s Canada.<\/p>\n<p>CTA is encouraged by the response of the thus far is looks forward to similar announcements by other RC members in the coming days.
