{"id":2819,"date":"2020-03-24T20:34:25","date_gmt":"2020-03-24T20:34:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/covid-19-daily-bulletins-march-24\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:45:57","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:45:57","slug":"covid-19-daily-bulletins-march-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/covid-19-daily-bulletins-march-24\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 Daily Bulletins: March 24"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Update on Credentialing Extensions in Canada for Trucking Related Compliance Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, CTA and the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/ccmta-provincial-and-territorial-members-working-together-to-support-trucking-industry-during-the-covid-19-crisis\/\">have been working in partnership<\/a> to ensure carriers have the most accurate information regarding how provinces and territories are dealing with such matters as expiring plates and licenses.<\/p>\n<p>CCMTA has been working with provinces and territories to provide an updated list with respect to credentialing extensions amongst Canadian jurisdictions. Please click here for details\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccmta.ca\/en\/\">https:\/\/www.ccmta.ca\/en\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>CTA thanks CCMTA for their efforts on this matter.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>FMCSA Grants Waivers for Certain Regs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) granted a waiver\u00a0from certain regulations applicable to interstate and intrastate commercial driver\u2019s license (CDL) and commercial learner\u2019s permit (CLP) holders and to other interstate drivers operating commercial motor vehicles (CMVs). The waiver includes specific language with respect Canadian provinces and territories who have issued similar notices extending compliance dates. \u00a0The FMCSA waiver expires on June 30, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The specific language is below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In accordance with 49 CFR 383.23(a)(1) and 391.41(a)(1)(i), FMCSA continues to recognize the validity of commercial driver\u2019s licenses issued by Canadian Provinces and Territories and Licencias Federales de Conductor issued by the United Mexican States, in accordance with 49 CFR part 383, when such jurisdictions issue a similar notice or declaration extending the validity date of the medical examination and certification and\/or validity of the corresponding commercial driver\u2019s license due to interruption to government service resulting from COVID-19.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For complete details, click here <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmcsa.dot.gov\/emergency\/fmcsa-cdl-waiver-32420\">https:\/\/www.fmcsa.dot.gov\/emergency\/fmcsa-cdl-waiver-32420<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Province Keeps OnRoute Open to Truckers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As the province continues to respond to the\u00a0coronavirus\u00a0outbreak, Ontario\u2019s 23\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/onroute\/\">OnRoute<\/a>\u00a0locations continue to operate, but seating has been blocked off and changes have been made to some operating hours.<\/p>\n<p>The centres, located off of Highways 400 and 401, are open 24 hours a day and seven days a week. However, dining and seating areas were closed until at least March 31.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur priority amidst the uncertainty of COVID-19 continues to be the health and safety of our customers who rely on OnRoute, ensuring you have somewhere safe and clean to stop on your journey,\u201d CEO Melanie Teed-Murch wrote in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Hortons and Market outlets inside the centres, gas pumps, and washroom facilities will operate around the clock. Starbucks outlets will be open between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. All other outlets will operate between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The organization said it has put into place precautionary measures to deal with COVID-19, such as increased cleaning measures and frequency, retraining, temporary removal of play areas for children, removing plastic trays, and moving cream and sugar stations behind the
