{"id":2726,"date":"2019-11-29T16:45:04","date_gmt":"2019-11-29T16:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/poll-distracted-drivers-top-threat-to-truckers\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:46:26","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:46:26","slug":"poll-distracted-drivers-top-threat-to-truckers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/poll-distracted-drivers-top-threat-to-truckers\/","title":{"rendered":"Poll: Distracted Drivers Top Threat to Truckers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Distracted drivers and dangerous driving of other motorists are the top threats to truck drivers on the highway, a recent Today\u2019s Trucking survey concludes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The monthly Pulse Survey of Today\u2019s Trucking readers listed other motorists at the top threat, recorded by 55% of survey participants, followed by distracted drivers at 50%. Locked in a statistical dead heat \u2014 identified by between 26% and 23% of respondents \u2014 were threats including inadequate training; slips, trips and falls; driver fatigue; and road conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">In terms of the training that is provided, 53% of survey participants said their company provides formal onboarding programs for new employees. Other popular training options include annual safety meetings (offered by 43%), targeted training based on incidents (34%), and online training (33%).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Half of those surveyed said they had been injured on the job, but rank their general feeling of safety on the job at 3.9\/5. They rated their company\u2019s commitment to health and safety at a similar average of 3.8\/5.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">If a coworker was injured on the job, 69% said they would feel confident administering First Aid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Pulse Surveys are conducted once per month, by email and through Today\u2019s Trucking social media channels.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Distracted drivers and dangerous driving of other motorists are the top threats to truck drivers on the highway, a recent Today\u2019s Trucking survey concludes.
