The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA), as a part of a nine-member coalition of national transportation associations, met today with the Governor of the Bank of Canada, Stephen Poloz, and his key senior staff.<\/p>\n
The coalition outlined five key areas of mutual interest to all organizations \u2013 the labour shortage; automation; business competitiveness; multimodal strategies; and key infrastructure investments.<\/p>\n
CTA was designated by the group as the lead on the labour discussions. (Meeting briefing note: Bank of Canada Trucking HR Canada_public<\/a>)<\/p>\n \u201cAll associations agree there are many common areas where federal public policy shifts can greatly benefit blue collar industries like transportation. Today was a wonderful opportunity for our industry and others to highlight how we can make Canada more competitive by addressing the many common opportunities across multiple sectors,\u201d said CTA president Stephen Laskowski.<\/p>\n CTA also highlighted various transportation projects <\/a>across Canada which would benefit the Canadian economy as well as the need for Canada\u2019s tax system to be reviewed, including enforcement tools to deal with matters like tax-avoidance scheme known as Driver Inc.
