{"id":2666,"date":"2019-07-30T15:35:51","date_gmt":"2019-07-30T15:35:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/natural-gas-truck-sales-back-on-the-upswing\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:46:55","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:46:55","slug":"natural-gas-truck-sales-back-on-the-upswing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/natural-gas-truck-sales-back-on-the-upswing\/","title":{"rendered":"Natural Gas Truck Sales Back on the Upswing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Retail sales of U.S. and Canadian Class 8 Natural Gas trucks have increased in 2019, reversing the<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.truckinginfo.com\/323946\/heavy-duty-natural-gas-truck-sales-were-down-in-2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">declining trend<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/a>from the year before, according to ACT Research\u2019s Alternative Fuels Quarterly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">As of May, year-to-date sales were up 43% and were also up 10% from April\u2019s numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cBucking the early decline pattern of the past few years, cumulative sales for the first five months of 2019 appear to be gaining ground,\u201d said Ken Vieth, senior partner and general manager at ACT Research. \u201cDespite soft reports in three of the first five months this year, sales of natural gas-powered vehicles are on an overall upward trajectory, gaining 10% month-over-month, 60% compared to May of 2018, and showing 43% improvement against the first five months of last year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Refuse fleets were the biggest purchaser of new Class 8 natural gas trucks. Other big adopters were transit and school bus fleets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">In the trucking industry, the majority of new natural gas trucks were purchased by buyers that were replacing other natural gas trucks or increasing the size of their fleets.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Retail sales of U.S. and Canadian Class 8 Natural Gas trucks have increased in 2019, reversing the\u00a0declining trend\u00a0from the year before, according to ACT Research\u2019s Alternative Fuels Quarterly.
