{"id":2626,"date":"2019-05-29T14:02:12","date_gmt":"2019-05-29T14:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/ntsb-finds-autonomous-controls-at-fault-in-crash\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:47:10","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:47:10","slug":"ntsb-finds-autonomous-controls-at-fault-in-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/ntsb-finds-autonomous-controls-at-fault-in-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"NTSB Finds Autonomous Controls at fault in Crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Preliminary findings released by the National Transportation Safety Board\u00a0on indicate that the autonomous vehicle control system onboard a Tesla Model 3 electric car was engaged when the sedan collided with a tractor-trailer near in Florida on March 1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">According to the NTSB report, the Tesla struck the left side of the semitrailer. The roof of the Tesla was sheared off as the vehicle went underneath the trailer. The 50-year-old male Tesla driver died as a result of the crash. The 45-year-old male driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4072 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/tesla-300x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">NTSB said preliminary data from the vehicle show that the Tesla\u2019s Autopilot system\u2014 an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that provides both longitudinal and lateral control over vehicle motion\u2014 was active at the time of the crash. NTSB said the driver engaged the Autopilot about 10 seconds before the collision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">From less than eight\u00a0seconds before the crash to the time of impact, the vehicle did not detect the driver\u2019s hands on the steering wheel, according to NTSB. Preliminary vehicle data show that the Tesla was travelling about 68 mph when it struck the semitrailer.
