{"id":2623,"date":"2019-05-28T19:13:09","date_gmt":"2019-05-28T19:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/transport-canada-stays-busy-on-tdg-files\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:47:10","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:47:10","slug":"transport-canada-stays-busy-on-tdg-files","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/transport-canada-stays-busy-on-tdg-files\/","title":{"rendered":"Transport Canada Stays Busy on TDG Files\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Transport Canada remains committed to several initiatives involving the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.<\/p>\n<p>Briefings from the Department at The Ministers General Policy Advisory Council (GPAC), which CTA is a member of, report that over the next four years Transport Canada will continue to work on developing regulatory proposals for:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Part 6 training (goal to address general awareness and function specific training);<br \/>\n&#8211; The Client Identification Database (CID) (database of facilities and locations where transportation of dangerous goods takes place, like shipper facilities, carrier terminals, warehouses etc);<br \/>\n&#8211; Fee modernization of TC\u2019s Means of Containment Facilities Registration Program;<br \/>\n&#8211; Better harmonizing regulations between Canada and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>It is expected regulatory proposals for these items could be available for consultation in Gazette I by mid-2020. \u00a0These are in addition to <a href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/transport-canada-amends-tdg-regulations-for-emergency-response-assistance-plans-eraps\/\">recent updates to PART 7<\/a>of the regulations, pertaining to emergency response assistance plans that go into effect March 2020. \u00a0In addition, TC will be embarking on:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; \u00a0An electronic shipping documents pilot program that will roll out over the next few years to test the feasibility of going electronic with TDG documentation;<br \/>\n&#8211; Updating of the emergency response guidebook (mid to late 2020);<br \/>\n&#8211; Continuing to streamline and enhance their enforcement regime to ensure consistent enforcement in all provinces and territories for all supply chain members;<br \/>\n&#8211; Enhancing their research and analysis branch to ensure evidence-based research continues to guide TC\u2019s regulatory efforts.<\/p>\n<p>CTA will continue to work with Transport Canada on all of these initiatives through CTA\u2019s TDG Committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Transport Canada remains committed to several initiatives involving the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
