The\u00a0turnaround\u00a0option allows carriers to avoid costly monetary penalties for failure to submit ACI data by allowing a\u00a0truck\u00a0driver to return to the U.S. and submit their paperwork before entering Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on the positive feedback from CBSA and the high level of compliance by carriers over the last year, the extension of the truck turnaround was a win-win scenario for both government and industry,\u201d says CTA\u2019s director or policy and industry awareness programs, Lak Shoan.<\/p>\n<p>The joint CBSA\/CTA AMPS working group has made strong progress in addressing compliance with the AMPS regime but continues to discuss options that would help alleviate carriers\u2019 concerns regarding monetary penalties and how they are applied, including the development of a data-based compliance system, and the introduction of additional benefits for trusted traders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCTA applauds CBSA for their continuing outreach with our industry, and their commitment to ensuring penalties are assessed in a fair and consistent manner.
