{"id":2472,"date":"2018-08-16T14:30:58","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T14:30:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/inspectors-to-collect-rear-impact-guard-data\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:48:02","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:48:02","slug":"inspectors-to-collect-rear-impact-guard-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/inspectors-to-collect-rear-impact-guard-data\/","title":{"rendered":"Inspectors to Collect Rear Impact Guard Data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Roadside inspectors will collecting data on rear impact guards during routine<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>commercial vehicle inspections<a title=\"CSA: Enforcers ramp up inspection numbers, but clean inspections are on the rise\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ccjdigital.com\/csa-enforcers-ramp-up-inspection-numbers-but-clean-inspections-are-on-the-rise\/\">\u00a0<\/a>in late August as part of the <span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"Roadside inspection training courses on driver, vehicle regs set for June, July\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ccjdigital.com\/roadside-inspection-training-courses-on-driver-vehicle-regs-set-for-june-july\/\">Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance<\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>initiative called Rear Impact Guard Check .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The enforcement initiative is a one-time, one-day event in which states will choose one day during the week of Aug. 27-31 to collect the data. CVSA says it will collect data on rear impact guards using Level I, II, IV or V inspections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cIt\u2019s important to note that inspectors will be conducting business as usual and will not be doing anything differently during Rear Impact Guard Check, other than filling out a data collection form that they\u2019ll submit to CVSA,\u201d added Capt. Turner. \u201cDrivers and motor carriers should not be impacted by this initiative.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The data collection was prompted by a US bill, <a title=\"Bill in Congress would require side underride guards on trailers, bolster rear guards\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ccjdigital.com\/bill-in-congress-would-require-side-underride-guards-on-trailers-bolster-rear-guards\/\">Stop Underrides Act of 2017<\/a>, which is intended to protect car occupants in crashes where the car goes under the trailer. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Roadside inspectors will collecting data on rear impact guards during routine\u00a0commercial vehicle inspections\u00a0in late August as part of the \u00a0Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance\u00a0initiative called Rear Impact Guard Check .
