{"id":2458,"date":"2018-07-24T20:02:39","date_gmt":"2018-07-24T20:02:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/epa-glider-truck-loophole-closed-temporarily-by-court\/"},"modified":"2025-01-10T16:48:02","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T16:48:02","slug":"epa-glider-truck-loophole-closed-temporarily-by-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/fr\/epa-glider-truck-loophole-closed-temporarily-by-court\/","title":{"rendered":"EPA Glider Truck Loophole Closed Temporarily by Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Environmental groups successfully petitioned a federal court to suspend an EPA decision not to enforce emissions-related cap on glider kit production.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The temporary stay imposed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia blocks<span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>an Environmental Protection Agency policy<span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>not to enforce for 2018 and 2019<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>a 300-unit production cap put in place on the manufacture of glider kits\/vehicles that do not comply with Phase 2 GHG emission rules, reports Heavy Duty Trucking. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Th ruling supports a motion filed<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>by the Environmental Defense Fund, the Center for Biological Diversity, and the Sierra Club, which argued the decision not to enforce should be declared unlawful and be vacated because the EPA\u2019s action \u2018subverts the Clean Air Act.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The three petitioning groups contend that the Phase 2 GHG emissions are current law and were adopted after years of analysis and public comment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">In a statement, the petitioners said the court will now consider their request for a longer stay pending consideration of the merits of the case.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Earlier this month, EPA said it had decided not to enforce the Phase 2 rules on gliders because it is working to finalize a proposed rule to repeal \u201ccertain emission requirements\u201d on glider kits.
